Sport should be fun for kids and we all have a role to play in ensuring it is a positive experience. But it should also be a positive experience for our volunteers, coaches and officials.
The theme for the second week of Shoosh for Kids month is all about respecting our referees, umpires and officials. Don’t forget to encourage your community to ‘think before they speak’ and to support these important volunteers in a positive way.
Many of the referees and umpires at junior sport are kids themselves and just learning the ropes. It’s important for spectators to remember that umpires and referees are human and will make mistakes, and junior sport on the weekend is not the World Cup!
