SEASON REMINDERS

RESERVE UMPIRES
All reserve umpires are required to arrive at least 5 minutes prior to the commencement of the timeslot, sign-in and stay at the relevant office until they are released. Umpires will be released at the end of the third quarter, allowing sufficient time for players to warm-up before taking the court for the next timeslot. Non-adherence to this may result is a fine and loss of points.

UMPIRES TO NOTE
If you report to a court and find no teams, you should report to the nearest office. The game may have been moved or it is a forfeit. If a forfeit, umpires are required to sign the Reserve sheet and wait to see if re-allocated.

DETAILS OF UMPIRES ON SCORESHEET
A reminder that the name of the umpire and their club team should be printed on each scoresheet before the umpire signs same. This information is available from the fixture. Unfortunately the new system does not print the allocated umpire details onto the scoresheet.

MARKING OF PLAYERS ON SCORESHEET
As per our Competition Structure, players need to have participated in at least 3 games to be eligible for the final series. Therefore it is important that the scorer marks off up to 7 players each quarter. This is the only evidence of that player participating in that game. Scoresheets are not only for recording game result but are used for administrative matters such as injury claim, disciplinary matter or COVID contact tracing.

ISSUE ON COURT
If there is an issue on any court before or during a match, please report it to the nearest office in person. If you are unable to leave the court, please phone 49294200. Your name and number will be taken and issue will be communicated to the nearest executive officer on duty to take action.

CALLING OF AN AMBULANCE
If there is a need to call an ambulance on a Saturday to a court, please liaise with the Sports Trainer on duty. It is recommended that they make the call and should have access to the Emergency+ app. The Sports Trainer will send a spectator/coach/other player to alert the office that an ambulance has been called. Volunteers will then be arranged to meet the ambulance at nearest entry point and direct them to relevant area – stopping games if required.

Expression of Interest Sister City Netball Matches

LET’S HAVE FUN AND GET EVERYONE PLAYING NETBALL

In light of the current COVID conditions, we note the following options available to teams:
Borrowed Player Policy
Casual Registrations
Participation forfeit
This is explained below:

If a team (TEAM A) is considering forfeiting due to player unavailability however have minimum 5 players, they should look to the Borrowed Player policy to borrow from eligible players within their club.

If no option is available through the Borrowed Player policy, TEAM A could still take the court with minimum 5 players and play for competition points – 3 win, 2 draw and 1 for loss.

If a team (TEAM A) is considering forfeiting due to player unavailability and the above options are not suitable, TEAM A should be encouraged to still participate in a match against the fixtured opposition (TEAM B) instead of forfeiting. This match will be called a ‘friendly’. The opposition team (TEAM B) will be awarded the game and 3 competition points but TEAM A receives a participation point (one point towards competition ladder). Allocated umpires would be onsite to officiate the ‘friendly’ and dependent on numbers if could be 5-a-side or 7-a-side with opposition lending players.

NNA is here to provide netball to all our community and a forfeit affects both teams involved as well as the umpires. NNA is encouraging members to participate in a match each week.

EOI NNA Community Advisory Group

NNA is looking to create a Community Advisory Group who will assist to guide NNA to continue to lead in in providing opportunities and staging events for all NNA Members. NNA is seeking members from a cross section of our netball community and across various age groups. This would be a fantastic opportunity for our school age members to be involved as an example – great to pop on your resume!

If you or someone you know would be a good fit, we encourage you to submit an expression of interest today! EOI NNA Community Advisory Group

Commitment will be flexible and there will be opportunities to meet online and face to face as required.
